Built on depth.

My name is Shobha George. I am a psychotherapist by profession and a mother of three. To share a bit of my personal journey—I've navigated the challenges of going through a divorce. This experience was not only emotionally demanding but also culturally complex, as divorce is not widely accepted in the culture I come from.

This journey has given me a unique perspective. I deeply understand and empathize with clients who are contemplating or going through a divorce, because I have sat on the other side—as a client myself.

Through my own healing process, I built resilience by seeking therapy, processing loss, and working through uncertainties—experiences that many individuals face. I have also lived through the full therapeutic journey: from intake and early progress to deeper work, termination, and maintenance. That role reversal was truly transformative.

Today, I bring together both my personal and professional experiences to better support my clients. I believe therapy can be especially valuable when marital or life challenges begin to impact emotional and physical well-being. These struggles often show up as sleep disturbances, low mood, isolation, or a loss of interest in once-enjoyed activities.

Some common areas where therapy can help include:

  • Healing from trauma or illness
  • Navigating grief and loss (relationships, roles, or identity)
  • Gaining clarity while planning for the future
  • Managing mental health issues that impacted the marriage/relationship

Engaging in therapy can offer valuable perspectives, emotional strength, and the clarity needed to move forward with confidence.

When choosing a therapist, consider their education, experience, and your comfort and connection with them.

I am a California-licensed mental health provider with over 25 years of training and experience in the field. I hold three master’s-level degrees: a Master’s in Social Work from Mahatma Gandhi University, India; an M.Phil. in Psychiatric Social Work from NIMHANS, India; and an Executive MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. I am also a licensed mental health provider in California, Massachusetts, and Florida.

My communication style is calm, compassionate, and personable. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel comfortable discussing anything openly, and I take pride in listening with empathy and without judgment. I believe that when you seek help, you come with goals and hopes for change—and it is my role to support you in achieving them.

It is truly an honor to use my expertise, skills, and experience to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing and growth.
