Eric M. Nakasu

Family Law Attorney

I have been licensed to practice law in California and Hawaii for the past 33 years. I have been a sole practitioner and worked at law firms. My area of practice has focused mainly on family law which I did almost exclusively for 20 years. I have experience in dissolutions, child custody and visitation, child support, paternity, domestic violence, parent move-away, property disputes, adoptions, name changes, and most other aspects of family law.

Prior to joining Jos Family Law, I had practiced family law for so many years and admitted had fallen into a rut of how I approached family law cases. During the years, I had lost the spirit of truly helping the client and their children get through the dissolution or paternity matter. I no longer had the enthusiasm, excitement and creativity in handling family law cases. But when I met Mr. Jos, his passion for the law and his enthusiasm for getting children back with their parents changed my view of practicing law.

I met Mr. Binoye Jos of Jos Family Law by coincidence. When I reviewed the Jos Family Law website, I was intrigued by his personal story and how his own nasty dissolution and child support case motivated him to become an attorney specializing in child custody matters. Then, when I first spoke with Mr. Jos, I was convinced that I had to work with him to help clients with family law cases, especially child custody matters.

Mr. Jos was friendly and jovial but when discussing child custody matters, I could see the passion that he had about making sure that both parents, mothers and fathers, had equal rights and access to their children. Although there was no doubt that Mr. Jos fights for his clients, his approach was tempered by reasonableness and fairness. He spoke about not alienating children from either parent unless that parent was an actual threat of harm to the children. Mr. Jos also said that he wouldn’t take a client who is untruthful or make false allegations against the other party, just to “win at all costs.” That simply was not his style or his approach as an attorney. Not only is Mr. Jos highly intelligent and knowledgeable about the law, what initially struck me was his passion for his clients and the empathy that he has for all alienated parents. He openly claims that this fire was fueled by his own personal custody battle experience that drives him to bring just for all parents locked in their own private custody battles.

I am at Jos Family Law because of Mr. Jos and his excitement to genuinely help people, not just take their money. I believe we have a “shared vision” of how family law cases, especially difficult child custody matters, should be handled. The children are the most important aspect of any child custody case and Jos Family Law is more interested in protecting their health and welfare, than winning in court! If you have the same interest and are involved or anticipate being involved in such a custody fight, please give us a call and I know we can help you.
